Favourite Music:
A wide variety that ranges from Kayne West to Punk to Paul Simon to Josh Pyke.
Favourite Film/s:
I’ve always been partial to Team America, it was the first time I cried in the cinema (tears of laughter)
Superstitious?
Not particularly, although I do get quite anxious before practically every race (even Parkruns!). I’m learning to become more ‘zen’ lately.
Favourite shoes:
The Mizuno Wave Universe 5’s were SUPER minimalist and will always hold a place in my heart – although it’s hard to not acknowledge the carbon super-shoes on the other end of the spectrum!
Favourite shoe colour:
I had a cool pair of Nike Lunar Spiders that had a cheetah print pattern. Otherwise, anything bright enough to find in the dark!
Best piece of advice you’ve been given:
‘Trust your body, it knows what to do.’ Its information our midwife gave my wife (in the months leading up to our son’s birth); but I think it transfers nicely to my thoughts on the purity in running. If you feel a niggle; stop. If you’re worried about a challenging run; trust your training and body. Another bit of advice is to ‘have fun’ – if you’re not smiling at the end of most runs, you’ve got it wrong.
Something not many people would know about you:
I’ve performed stand-up comedy for a bit a few years ago. Other than that most runners are surprised when my art pops up on my Instagram account. I graduated from the Queensland College of Art and I still love painting, designing, drawing and the act of creating in general!
