Fast, Flat & Picturesque… that’s why I do Twilight Bay Run Every Year

Darrel has run every single Twilight event (except one)… that’s 10 years of running under the stars.

Read why it’s an event he keeps entering.

It was with great delight to see on my recent social media feed the return of a Twilight event to the run calendar.

The Twilight Running Festival at St Lucia and the Twilight Bay Run at Wynnum were always my favourite events since the very first one in 2009. The intraining Twilights perfectly bookended the start and finish (March and September) of the road racing season.

I have always done the half marathons at both: the only person to complete all 10 St Lucia half marathons, and 6 out of 7 at Wynnum, missing only the first in 2012 while I competed in world champs overseas.

The Twilight Bay Run is a particular favourite, fast and flat, picturesque and such a great atmosphere. I am very excited to see it back in September and I will be there again for the brilliant medals and colourful race singlets.

Thanks to intraining and let’s keep Covid at bay so we can all be at the bay to celebrate this wonderful event on 26 September.
